Wikstrom Residence

Designed by Katherine Hillbrand
with Meghan Kell Cornell

The greatest single influence in the design of this wooded sanctuary was the owner’s interest in diminutive architectural forms that would sit quietly in the natural environment. As one approaches this house from its curving drive, through mature trees, a small house emerges from within the form of the larger house, drawing one in for a closer look. A splayed wing on the back of the house captures views of wooded thickets. While the main living space is continuous, each corner manages to preserve its own character.
