DeMaster Residence

Design by Kelly R. Davis and Tim Old

The angled plan and ground-hugging nature of this Prairie-influenced home resulted from stringent height restrictions and building setbacks from the bluffs of the St. Croix River far below. Living areas, distinct for both summer and winter months, along with dining and kitchen spaces, embrace the panoramic 180-degree views. A dominant roof form incorporating deep overhangs does double duty in protecting the walls of the building as well as providing a strong sense of shelter on the exposed hilltop site.
