Once in a rare while, certain things come together in the design process that bring about noteworthy outcomes. Thus was the case a few years ago when a dynamic young couple invited my colleagues, Chris Meyer, Max Mahaffey, Katie Leaf and myself to design a vigorously modern home for their young family. 
The owners allowed our team to explore building technologies that pushed our collective thinking in new directions. After many months in design, working with zoning authorities in charge, and collaborating with Jason Aune, the owner’s landscape architect, we were finally fortunate to work with Choice Wood Fine Homes Builders to see the project built. Choice Wood’s pervasive “can do” attitude brought this project to its finest fruition. I can honestly say, in Aristotle’s words, that the “whole is definitely greater that the sum of its parts” due to the owner’s trust and the teamwork that ensued.
These snapshots were taken this past summer by my son, Arien Cartrette, (Associate Architect at Architecture Plus in Troy, New York), before final completion and are just a sneak preview. More to come on this unique and fantastic project. Stay tuned……
