This second-story addition for a growing family doubles the home’s existing living space, but remains conscious of the house’s place in the neighborhood fabric. That was the first green decision this family made. Others include fiber-cement siding, durable and recyclable metal roofing, high-density foam insulation and low-VOC or formaldehyde-free finish materials such as linoleum and natural fiber composite countertops.
