Timberdell

Designed by Marc Sloot

with Ben Dose

The owners of this North Shore property wanted to be able to live at their chosen lake year-round. Their original home was low slung against the land, without a welcoming approach. Working as an addition to the original structure to maintain setbacks, this new timber framed home keeps traditions of the North Woods alive.

SALA worked with the clients to create an energy efficient home and select materials that are healthy for the indoors and outdoors throughout. SALA worked closely with the timber-framers during construction to ensure proper air sealing and good insulation.

The house now welcomes visitors when they approach, offering glimpses of the lake beyond. The lakeside opens up even more to bring occupants towards the water, with a large covered deck to spend time comfortably outside even in volatile weather.
