Pied-à-Lac

Designed by Bryan Anderson

This apartment renovation relieved the primary living space of multiple dividers that restricted views through the space to the large urban lake beyond. Many materials and details were retained to reduce waste and preserve embodied energy, including plaster walls, custom stainless steel exposed ductwork, and the continuous perforated metal ceiling which created excellent acoustics. To contrast the cool concrete floor and galvanized ceiling, vertical grain Douglas Fir panels were used alongside soft matte cabinet faces, porcelain countertops and handmade tile. Recessive black hardware and fixtures unify lighting and functionality throughout, allowing the family, now spread across the country, to reconnect with ease when opportunity arises.
