Split Box

The clients for this project approached SALA ‘to create a house that we will be excited to come home to’. Having lived in their house for over 20 years, they chose to stay connected to their neighborhood, and accomplish their goals by extensively remodeling their existing split-entry home.

The mid-century home was renovated to accentuate and enhance the modern split-level characteristics of the home. The basic bones were kept in place while creating a more open floor plan, adding a dramatic new entry, and remodeling the bedrooms and bathrooms provided more spacious and updated accommodations. The resulting design showcases bright and inviting spaces united with clarity of detail and materiality.

New windows, improved insulation, as well as new solar panels and an electric car charging station all dramatically reduce the energy impact of the home.
