A replacement cabin was desired for this steeply sloping site on a South Dakota lake. A three level scheme was envisioned with a bridged entry to a two bedroom top level under an asymmetrical roof. Level two is living/dining/kitchen, the couple’s bedroom and a wrap around lakeview deck. At the lowest lakefront level is a guest bedroom and lake activity storage.
A tower element steps back from the shore to facilitate south and east views down and across the lake. It houses the couple’s bedroom at the deck level, an away room at the top level and a stargazing rooftop.
