Max Ouellette-Howitz

Max brings enthusiasm and collaborative spirit to his design work. He builds relationships with clients and builders that support the shared goal of creating thoughtful, enduring, and expressive buildings. In all of his projects, Max values clear conceptual vision, where concise detailing and considerate selection of materials prioritize both performance and beauty. He finds great joy in transforming ideas into lasting structures that enrich the lives of their inhabitants. In addition to his work at SALA, Max teaches architecture design studios at the University of Minnesota. He lives in an old brick building in downtown Minneapolis and spends lots of time on the North Shore of Lake Superior.
Max holds a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from the University of Minnesota and a Master of Architecture from Yale University. Prior to joining SALA in 2020, he gained valuable experience at CityDeskStudio, Gray Organschi Architects, and Dream the Combine.
